At Flexsus we have a practical educational background, which gives us great insight into the everyday lives of our user´s. This has enabled us to develop a unique system that opens a whole new world to the users of Herbor.
Herbor is an Internet-based communication system for people with cognitive disabilities. Our work is based on several years of practical experience with the challenges that arise in these people's lives.
Today, more and more of our daily communication is done via the Internet and e-mail. For people with cognitive disabilities, this form of communication is not always available. Compensatory pedagogy and technology is a fundamental part of the philosophy and concept behind Herbor. We make the Internet and computer options available for cognitively impaired people, and thus we give them the opportunity to support the personal communications through the use of digital images and e-mail.
The objective of Flexsus is to create a system that reflects the user's needs. not a user that reflects the system.
With Herbor, family, friends, social workers, educators and others get a tool that enables them to understand the needs of disabled people and the opportunity to develop a completely different kind of dialogue. A dialogue on the disabled own terms.
